If you’re a mom who is getting ready to go back to work, you probably already know there are lots of logistics to manage. And you may be finding it fairly easy to identify some things that need doing and knock them off your list fairly easily. But what are you missing? And what about those couple of nagging things that you’re not sure about? This is a time when a little bit of extra support and guidance can go a long way. Enter the Bouncing Back After Baby: Thrive At Work online psychotherapy group.
In this group we will be working our way through a step-by-step approach that will have you checking off the boxes on the necessary details for your successful return to work. You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re on track, considering each step in turn as you get ready to become a working mom. The manageable, bite-sized pieces that we will consider over the course of eight weekly meetings in this online group will help you feel empowered to meet your personal career goals head on, while still remaining present as a mom for your baby.
And what could be more fun than going through this process with a group of other women, just like you, who are also still learning, day by day, what it means to be a mom and who are also on the cusp of this same transition back to work that you are facing? Together, we can gather up the necessary energy and support to get it all done.
Connecting early on to a “village” of like-minded mothers who work outside the home can be a valuable resource when you encounter challenges and dilemmas in your life as a working mom. You’ll be a little bit ahead of the game, having already found some moms, just like you, who can sit with you, empathize with you and support you. Notably, these other moms in the Bouncing Back After Baby: Thrive At Work group will not be your neighbor, your sister, your friend or your colleague. Nope, your fellow group members will be a step removed from your everyday life. In this way, they will be uniquely equipped to support you when you are feeling uncertain and send you on your way knowing that you are not alone as you make this important transition back to work.
A step-by-step back to work plan like this can provide the basis for a more holistic approach to returning to work and successfully balancing a career and family. You will have a framework for organizing and prioritizing each step along the way. Some of the obvious items of your back to work plan – such as lining up a reliable childcare provider and committing to a work schedule that is compatible with this childcare arrangement – may be clearly on your agenda. But even these steps do not always roll out as easily as hoped or desired. And then there are other, less obvious parts to a successful back to work plan that involve “softer” skills, such as embracing a new work identity that integrates the new “mom” side of you, learning how to talk back to mom guilt, and formulating a reliable self-care plan.
Finding the right balance between work and family can seem like a daunting task some days when you are a working mom. There often is no single solution to many of the dilemmas that you will be facing. Having the opportunity to discuss some of your concerns with other moms who are going through similar struggles can really help. So why not come join us online this winter for eight weeks in the Bouncing Back After Baby: Thrive At Work group. There are two convenient options: Mondays at 5 pm beginning January 8, 2024 and Tuesdays at 11 am beginning January 9, 2024. The fee for the full 8-weeks is $250.
